Notes:
At the start of the first event of 2017, host and series organizer Ian Ferrier announced that after sixteen years at Casa Del Popolo, sound technician Steve Godin would be working his final Words and Music Show before retiring. Godin also prepared a short spoken word piece which he performed later in the evening. Claudia Edwards read “I Will Work,” “Young Bird At Guy and De Maisonneuve,” “Ecstasy Loop,” “I Want To Fall In Love” and the title piece from a poetry collection called “Chrysopoeia.” Vocalist Elizabeth Lima joined Ian Ferrier on stage to perform as Creatures of the Ice Age. Jacob Wren read a chapter entitled “A Film That Will Make The Audience Feel Pure Joy” from his book “Polyamorous Love Song” (Book Thug 2014). Shirin Mehrbod performed poetry and songs accompanied by Sam Minevich and Bryan Highbloom and also discussed her experience living in Iran during the revolution. To close the show, Elizabeth Lima was invited back on stage to perform with Paris Favilla on horn and Wynston Minckler on bass.
