Notes:
Natsha Perry-Fagant performed a piece about relationships and gendered stereotypes and a song about her “day job” at the start of the February 19th, 2017 Words and Music Show at Casa Del Popolo. Gillian Sze read “Seven Takes,” a series of prose poems from her book “Panicle” (ECW Press 2017). Host and series organizer Ian Ferrier was then joined on stage by Louise Campbell to perform a piece based on Ferrier’s poem “Oh My Sisters” from his book “Bear Dreams” (Popolo press 2016) and which samples didgeridoo music from an album called “Barramundi.” The first set ended with “a fabulous pair of dancers” named Mary St-Amand Williamson and Kim Sanh performing an unnamed piece to more music from “Barramundi.” In the second half of the show, Amir Amiri played a set on santur, after which singer-songwriter Dana Gavanski and bassist Ben Dwyer performed original songs, including “The Heart Inside,” “How Much Is Enough,” “Did You Care?” and “The Wind.”
