CONTENT

Notes:
For the cost of a $6 ticket, Montrealers were welcomed to attend a special multilingual Words and Music Show called “Leaping the Language Divide” at Casa Del Popolo. A document entitled “Across-the Language-Divide.docx” addresses the show’s theme and the participants’ interests in “crossing languages” in their work. Patrice Desbiens, “one of Canada's most successful French-language poets,” presented “The Art of Disappearing,” his first book in English (Ekstasis Editions 2017), while host, series organizer, and poet Ian Ferrier presented “the first translation of his poems into French”, published as “Quel est ce lieu” (Éditions Le Noroît 2017).” Also featured were performances from “Québecois poet,” critic, and teacher Marie-Paule Grimaldi, “eclectic” music in “English and Arabic by Sudanese hip-hop artist” Nazim Elnur, and a collaborative set featuring “music and poetry in English, Italian and Portuguese” by trilingual poet Valerie Curro Khayat and Brazilian “composer, singer, guitarist and arranger” Isaac Neto.
