Notes:
The recording of the September 2017 edition of the Words and Music Show begins in the midst of Mohamed Kebbawar’s performance at Casa Del Popolo, which included poems entitled “Silence For Oil” and “The Soap Of Aleppo.” Before heading off on a South American tour as Chiquita Magic, Isis Giraldo was invited to perform new and old original songs in English and Spanish, including “Primer Mundo.” Jesse Chase discussed and read excerpts from his first novel “God’s Wife and The Synonymous X” (8th House Publishing 2017). Pamela Bentley read pieces from her chapbook “Sea, Sky, and Everything In Between” (2017), including “Snapshots Of An East-Van Friendship.” To close the show, Simon Millerd was joined on stage by Isis Geraldo, Ryan Brouwer, Ted Crosby, Martin Heslop, and Jake Weins for a forty-minute jazzy set.
