Notes:
Rafaelle Mackay opened the first Words and Music Show of 2018 at Casa Del Popolo with a series of soothing songs. After a short break, Irish poet and performer Rachel McCrum decided to scrap her planned setlist on the spot to read poems from her book “The First Blast to Awaken Women Degenerate” (Freight Books 2017), including “I Go Sailing” and sections of a series called “Problems To Sharpen The Young.” Nazim Elnur performed spoken word pieces including “Pen Pal.” Sherwin Tija closed the night with a live presentation and reading from his graphic novel “Plummet” (Conundrum Press 2019).
