Notes:
Kathleen Reichelt and Wesley Rickert, “two friends from around Thousand Islands,” performed poetry accompanied and punctuated by sounds in the first set of the Celebration of Summer edition of the Words and Music Show at Casa Del Popolo, including “Demonstration” and “Victoria Day.” John Arthur Sweet then read one long poem, after which “up-and-coming poet” Marianne Lorthiois performed “some poésie en Français.” Louise Campbell performed “Heroes and Villains,” a musical piece with text sourced from the lyrics of a song from the French Revolution. Adriana Jones welcomed the audience to her “first and possibly last ever end of the world party,” where she reflected on her apocalypse survival skills and discussed and dramatized the after effects of the 2016 U.S. election. Singer and spoken word artist Lydia Lockett performed pieces about depression. At the end of the evening, James Schidlowsky joined Ian Ferrier on stage to perform an excerpt from a show about surviving as a homosexual man in the Gaza strip.
