Notes:
After Ian Ferrier and Rachel McCrum reveal that this event brought the Mile End Poets’ Festival to a close, Isaac Bond opened the show with pieces written within different soundscapes, including “Hole In The Sky” and “The Beat Poem.” Deanna Radford, host of the Atwater Poetry Project, read “Reach Out And Touch Someone Across The Atlantic,” “When My Lover Is Across The Ocean,” “It’s Possible To Connect To And Use The Internet In Many Different Ways,”and “The Sound Of Birds And Words Migrating When 404-Not Found Arises.” Frequent W&M Show guest David Bateman was inspired by Radford’s set to read “Inbox” from his book “‘Tis Pity” (Frontenac Press 2012) and then presented a selection of new work including “Despair,” “Erotica,” and “Half The Sun” (a response to Leonard Cohen’s “Half The World”). In the second set, Dina Cindric and Louise Campbell joined W&M Show host Ian Ferrier on stage to perform an “old Croatian folk song” and another piece inspired by “Swedish herd calling” as Creatures of the Ice Age. In the final act of the night, Kaie Kellough performed a mix of sound poetry and spoken word.
