Notes:
The audio recording of the April 23rd 2017 Word and Music Show at La Vitrola begins in the midst of an emotional spoken word piece performed by Halogen. She then performed two additional pieces from a series called “Night Shifts.” “Very fine dance artist” Mary St-Amand Williamson performed accompanied by “musician, composer, [and] clarinet player” Lousie Campbell. Halogen’s fellow Throw Collective member, Anomaly, read several poems reflecting on the show’s theme, “In Search of Lost Time.” The first set ended with “a participative piece” by Speranza Spir and Denis Lafond, featuring objects, sounds, movements, and words, spoken in French and English. The second set featured two international guests, Jason Kahn from Zurich and Marianna Bernardini from Barcelona. Kahn’s vocal performance is described by Ian Ferrier as one of “pure voice” and a distillation of all Kahn’s previous work and interests. To close the evening, Bernardini sang original songs in English and Spanish, including "Yesterday" and “I’m Sorry,” and accompanied herself on acoustic guitar. The event poster informs us that the event was produced in collaboration with the Quebec Writers’ Federation and the League of Canadian Poets.
