This SpokenWeb Listening Practice session will feature early thoughts on how Black creators across poetry, music, and performance have explored the soundscapes of congregated Blackness, from the hold of the slave ship to contemporary uprisings in urban centres across North America.\n\nBlack congregation has been a massive anxiety of, and threat toward, state power since Bois Caïman due to fear of revolt. Black congregation has also been a vehicle of social justice and healing.
